Boy Scout Troop 6 NewsThe troop mourns the loss of William A. Shaw who died on December 26th. A Boy Scout for 75 years, Mr. Shaw was a member of the first formed Troop 6 in 1928. He became an Eagle Scout in 1933. He was a Cub Scout Leader, an assistant scoutmaster, and scout master for troops 20 & 21. He was a district commissioner for 10 years and was on the advancement committee for 25 years. In 1970, Mr. Shaw received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award given to a volunteer in scouting. He will be remembered for his generosity, devotion and kindness. Many are grateful to him for instilling in them the ideals of scouting. We celebrated Christmas with a traditional Yankee swap. The scouts enjoyed the Christmas party eating pizza, trading gifts and playing ship wreck. We wish everyone a safe and healthy New Year. The Troop is celebrating its 75th Anniversary on May 7th at the Quincy Yacht Club. We will mark this event with a dinner celebration. We are preparing a display of the troop history and are asking for past members of the troop to lend us photos and troop memorabilia. For information on this event or if you would like to be included on future mailings please contact Brian Laroche.
