Boy Scout Troop 6 News The troop enjoyed a Ski Trip to Gunstock Ski Area in New Hampshire, Super Bowl Weekend. We had our largest turnout for the event 19 people attending. Many of the scouts took advantage of the Ski School and had lessons for snow boarding. Some of the scoutmasters stayed at the lodge and cooked a hearty dinner of American Chop Suey. Many thanks to a Carol Block for the use of her vacation home for the weekend. The following is a list of advancement and badges that the scouts have earned so far this year: Rank Advancement: Nick Bourgeois: Tenderfoot; Greg Belton: Tenderfoot; Rahmy Eltory: Tenderfoot; Takei Kurtzman: Tenderfoot; Jonathan Taylor: Tenderfoot Merit Badges: Rahmy Eltory: Sculpture, Leatherwork, Swimming, Basketry, Totin Chip, Music; Scott Gorman: Lifesaving; Mark Kisiel: Personal Management, Family Life; Tim Kisiel: Sports, Environmental Science Richie Kurtzman: Woodcarving, Sculpture, Basketry, Lifesaving, Citizenship in the World, Communication; Takei Kurtzman: Swimming, Woodcarving, Totin’ Chip; George Oaks: Archery, Environmental Science; Matt Shaw: Sports, Environmental Science; Josh Wallace: Environmental Science, Emergency Prep, Sports The troop would like to sincerely thank the Telephone Workers Credit Union for their generous donation to our Troop. With activity costs rising every year the donation will help to keep up our tradition of making sure that our scouts are never left out of an event because of cost. Please mark your calendars for the 75th Anniversary Celebration for the troop on May 7th at 6pm. Invitation to the event is open to everyone. Tickets for this event will be going on sale beginning March 19th and can be purchased at the bottle drive. After that day they will be available for sale at the weekly scout meetings on Monday’s which are at the Hough’s Neck Congregational Church from 7pm to 8:30pm. The troop would to contact past members of the troop who were eagle scouts and scoutmasters.
